Daughters of Elizabeth Altar Guild
Zion’s Altar Guild is comprised of members of the congregation, who volunteer a small amount of time to serve the Lord and our congregation by seeing to the details of setting up the Altar for Holy Communion, insuring that the Communion-ware and Altar are kept clean and in good repair, decorating for the holy seasons of Christmas and Easter.
Members meet four times annually for planning and once annually for a fellowship potluck.
We would love to have you join us! Call the church office (231-347-3438) for details on meeting times.
This instructional class is intended for students that are in 6, 7, and 8th grades. For further questions, please contact Pastor Peters at 231-347-3438.
As 6th & 7th Graders, our students take a closer look at key Bible Stories, using our Bibles and the Concordia Publishing House “A Bible History” textbook.
In 8th Grade, we take our Biblical knowledge and apply it toward the truths of the Church as put forth in Luther’s Small Catechism.
The Mary-Martha Society is a longstanding and faithful women’s group, serving as part of the local function and outreach of Zion; and the same ladies partner nationally and internationally with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) for Mission Efforts that reach well beyond Petoskey.
If you’ve ever attended a Rummage Sale or Bake Sale at Zion, or if you’ve saved up coins for an LWML mite box, you’ve taken part in the outward-focused ministry of our ladies group.
The Mary-Martha/LWML meets the second Monday of selected months, and would love to have you join them!
Zion Lutheran Preschool
Welcome to Zion Lutheran Preschool!
We have two classes to meet the different needs of your child. Our Monday, Wednesday, Friday class is for students who are 4 years old by September 1st. Our Tuesday, Thursday class is for students who are 3 years old by September 1st. Both classes are held from 8:30-11:30am.
Our preschool program is a play based, academic program that will prepare your child for kindergarten, as well, teach him or her about Jesus in a fun, active, and Christian setting. We use the Zoophonics program to teach about letters and sounds. Lessons are age appropriate and individualized to meet the needs of each student. The school has a large indoor gymnasium for play and a beautiful green grass playground area with sandbox, climbing toys, and playhouse for outdoor play. Parents are invited to come and visit the classroom at any time to observe their child or volunteer for special activities.
The school program is led by an active board of parents, teachers, grandparents, and members of the congregation, to insure that the very best is planned for the children in the program.
If you have any questions about the preschool, please call the school’s director, Kim Timm, at 231-347-2757, or stop by for a visit.
Come grow with Jesus!
Jr. High Youth Group
Our Junior High Youth Group partners with Young Life, Petoskey. We offer various activities with youth of other Christian denominations in the Petoskey area. Our focus is to keep today’s youth involved in Christian fellowship through fun and engaging activities. Please call the church office for a current listing of events.
Vacation Bible School
Zion and First Presbyterian are busy planning for another successful VBS. Vacation Bible School will be held from June 11th – 15th, 2018 (9 AM – Noon). This year’s theme is Rolling River Rampage. At Rolling River Rampage, kids will discover an interactive, energizing, Bible-based program that will give them an opportunity to experience the ride of a lifetime with God. As we plan and prepare, we would appreciate your prayers. Pray that God would give us wisdom in planning, and that God would begin working in the hearts of the children who will come to VBS.
